I’m sure you know by now that I am green obsessed! I seriously can’t get enough. My days are filled with green smoothies, kale salads, romaine, broccoli, green herbs and even some chlorella and spirulina thrown into the mix. Somewhere between hating vegetables and where I am today, I developed the taste and even the craving for all things green. Thank goodness! My theory is that the more greens you can consume (which may be forcing it a bit in the beginning as I did) the more your body will start to crave them.
Starting my day with a smoothie full of greens, healthy fats & protein is the perfect way to kickstart my morning and keep me full until lunch. I wanted to share what’s been in my daily smoothie because it just tastes and feels too good not to! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
- ¾ cup water
- 1 tablespoon hemp seed
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 serving of your favorite vegan vanilla protein powder (I love Healthforce Warrior Food)
- 1 ripe banana (can be frozen if you like colder smoothies, but better at room temp in the cold weather)
- 1 large stalk of celery, with leaves, chopped
- 4 leaves of kale OR 2 handfuls spinach OR ¼ bunch parsley (try all 3 & find your fave)
Place the water, hemp seed, coconut oil and protein powder in the blender. Blend until very smooth. Add the banana, celery and greens of choice. Blend again until smooth.
I was craving Mexican this weekend & whipped up some spicy sunflower crumble, macadamia cream & fresh salsa. Green Tacos rule!
My Omega Vert juicer just arrived and I am thrilled! The juice tastes so rich and green! I’m in love!
Oh my! This was the flavor highlight of my weekend–Strawberry Lemonade. Let’s see if I can recall the quickie recipe for you:
juice of 3 small lemons
2 cups strawberries (I used a mix of fresh and frozen so the drink was cold but not icy)
1.5 cups water
2-3 tablespoons raw honey
Blend all & enjoy…I know you will!
I hope you had a delicious weekend, too!
Wishes of Bliss!
Thursday is my new favorite day. Walking to the farmer’s market in my neighborhood with my love is absolute bliss.
I’ve been busy and craving something rich that I could make a large batch of–I love leftovers! Sunny Hummus it is–this time with a spicy twist (a sprinkle of chipotle).
This was soooo good! Zucchini noodles (simply made with a veggie peeler) with raw pesto & topped with marinated kale. A green feast that was truly nourishing. More please!
Wishes of Bliss!
My current obsession is instagram. Have you checked it out yet? So much FUN!!! Since I’ve been wanting to make this blog a much more active place but I’m finding my time super tight, I think I’ve come up with a compromise. I plan to share a frequent peek into my foodie world using the magic of iPhone photos. My hope is that they’ll inspire you and show that incorporating raw foods on a daily basis can be simple, beautiful, fun and of course, full of pleasure!
